  1. Katheyer

The FMC, Piper is a young woman in desperately need of an income, which eventually drives her to accept some janitor opening provided by her temp agency. The house to clean, turn us to be a mansion, inhabited by six mysterious, rich and enticing guys, and filled with valuable objects, whose real price she cannot begin to fathom, which becomes painfully clear as she breaks a vase and has to come up for the cost, this is not Rome, cost are not always paid back in money .

As the title leads on this is a reverse harem story, but despite of the title, which to be honest I rather dislike, as it puts the reader into a single direction that doesn’t do justice to the story…. thus, despite the title, this is a very good constructed story, with a female MC that, regardless of being ‘trapped’ in a house full of ‘monsters’, can (and does) stand her ground and manages to get out the best of a bad situation, and find a family & home in the process.

The book depicts different POVs, even if not all (male)characters contribute equally to the plot and offers a couple of surprising twists that increase the interest of the reader. Regardless of the paranormal reverse harem setting this is a slow-burn story that focuses on Piper and her situation and how she deals with it. A good story; just beware of cliff-hangers ahead.

  2. Lynall

This is a slow reverse harem with a klutz in a house of vampires. The story is amusing and centre’s on Piper, who is hired as a maid Ina house with 6 hot brothers, she eventually finds out their secret. The story is fun and entertaining.

  3. Reed

Hot +A1:G24vampires in a house with one female mortal… lucky girl!
    POV: many
SENSE OF HUMOR: Yes, quite funny
SEX SCENES: Yes M/M; MFM in dreams
    F BOMBS: Yes
    CLIFFHANGER: Yes
    SERIES: Book 1 of 7

I’m a sucker for vampire romances (no pun intended). So much tension with all the handsome brothers. Warm-blooded vampires, vampire hierarchy, vampire gifts/talents. Although I don’t care for cliffhangers, I realize this is a series. The story has me intrigued and hooked.

  4. Lenora P

This is a slow burn reverse harem with a cliffhanger. Piper has been sent as a maid by a temp agency to a new location. She becomes indebted to the masters of the house through her clumsiness. Each of her employers find her fascinating in different ways. Throw in some vampire politics and intrigue, and you have the beginnings of a great story.

  5. Shaynee

This was an excellent dark PNR book. I’m normally not into these types of books. Erin has changed my mind about books like these and would love to read more books just like this!
Steamy, sexy, possessive, and hot AF!
    Highly recommend!

  6. Con Fran

This read was very enjoyable. The storyline kept me entertained and I couldn’t put this book down till the end. Looking forward to more reads from this author.

  7. Mulan

This was a fun and entertaining read! Piper was both funny and yet annoying at times, and really made me laugh. The vampires were super hot and I love how it was told from different POVs. Though there was a lot of chemistry between them and Piper, it wasn’t too steamy of a book. This was an enjoyable story.

  8. Bluelokie

Cannot wait for book two, really enjoyed reading this book, very well written, interesting diverse brilliantly developed characters with amazingly strong chemistry, fantastic story and what an ending. A story filled with snark, humour, mystery, sexual frustration, flirtations, reverse harem fantasy, twists and a cliffhanger ending, I NEED to know what happens next in this series, bring on book two PLEASE! My first book from the talented Erin Bedford and I will definitely be reading more.

  9. babyjmmr

This is the 1st book in the house of durand series. The characters are fun and the storyline has mystery drama and suspense.

Piper has been living in her car for a while after being made redundant from her job. She gets hired as a live in maid for a pack of brothers, immediately she’s attracted to Wynn who has no problem flirting with her.
Piper is one of three employees at the house, the others know the secret about their masters and soon she will too.
It was a bit hard to keep track of all the brothers but once I did I was hooked. A great start to a must read series, each book involves character development and adventure.

  11. Nan

Piper is desperate. The temp agency won’t give her any more chances if she screws up this live in maid job. She has no money, no friends and is living in her car. The house is more of a mansion and there are six distractingly hot brothers who live there, but Piper is determined to make this work. Then the flirting starts and strange things begin to happen that put her on edge. Piper is a wonderful, strong character who quickly has an unexpected effect on the Durands. She doesn’t react to anything as expected and it throws the household, and it’s occupants, off kilter.

  12. Jeanne

This book hooked me from the get go I just couldn’t put it down I fell in love with these characters and omg what a story just a perfect read.

  13. Marianela

This didn’t go where I thought it would and I am still trying to decide how I feel about that since I was left on edge and wanting more. It’s a slow burn for sure but don’t expect anything substantial to happen here in terms of steam. There are lots of fantasies that have added on to the tension and longing. The mystery and suspense is what grabbed me and I loved the main character as she is no pushover. It does end on a cliffhanger but it was done so well that I am anxiously waiting for the next book already.

  14. Reader03

Dark adult rom with a maid and her mysterious employees with a vampire twist. I voluntarily received this book for an honest review.

  15. AvidBookLover

This is part of a series and end in a cliffhanger. Piper acts like an immature and oversexed teenager while the vampires are arrogant bossy and bullies and it was hard to relate or like any of them while I found the relationship between them lacking and boring at times. Piper is clumsy, selfish and whiny most of the time without much of a personality and she was very annoying. I did not feel that the story line had much depth to it and it really had a lot of promise in the beginning. I won’t be reading the remainder of the series as this book just did not capture my attention.

  16. Deb5158

A thoroughly enjoyable story that I thought was entertaining from beginning to end. The lead character is absolutely fantastic and I loved her style. I really enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

  17. Anonymous

This was a good book. I did enjoy the plot and the characters but do wish that there was more complexity.

  18. Hooked on books

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. This story of Piper went looking for a job and was given one, she could not refuse. She was hired as a maid for six billionaire vampires. Piper was very clumsy breaking things. Piper did not know that they were vampires.

  19. Kathleen

I really enjoyed this book! It was fast paced and flowed nicely. The turn of events were done beautifully and the ending was terrific! This is a fun and exciting paranormal romance! I liked it!! It has drama and steam, with very likable characters.

  20. Dawnm

I absolutely love this series! I’m dying for the next book! I devoured this one in one sitting! Read in KU and loved it so bought it as well! Amazing characters!

  21. SharonR

This is book 1 in a new series and so it does end with a cliffhanger. The plot is brilliant, and I loved the characters, they have a wonderful sense of humor. This certainly looks like it’s going to be a brilliant series.

  22. Cath

This is book one of the House of Durand series and sees the main character Piper Billings forced to take a live in job as a maid, after a long list of failed jobs from a temp agency. She lost her full time job and has been forced to live out of her car, to make ends meet, so she has no choice. Meeting the butler Darren and then one of the masters of the house Wynn, her usual clumsy self, ends up with her knocking into a table and knocking over and breaking a very expensive vase, worth millions! When she finally meets the true master of the house Antoine, she is in debt and desperate, and now in a posh mansion full of very handsome men, all six of them! Antoine, Wynn, Marcus, twins Drake and Allister, and the youngest one Rayne.

What she doesn’t know, is that these men have an important secret that they don’t just trust to anyone. Her outspoken manner and clumsiness brings about loads of amusing interludes. No matter how much some of the household try to take advantage of her sexually, she pushes back against each and every one of them. She does find them all extremely attractive, in different ways and while in her alone time she may be having dreams or fantasies about some of them, she doesn’t realise that they are vampires and can smell and hear just about everything she thinks is private! Each of them has different special abilities in addition to being vampires and blood brothers. Rayne can read any of their thoughts and Piper’s are getting him into a twist!

When she accidently figures out their secret, when she should have stayed in her locked room, whilst they had a party night, they find she reacts completely differently than they expected or have ever experience in the past. They have gone through a lot of maids in the past, as none have manage to stop themselves from getting into bed with the men of the house, even going into their basement daytime sleeping beds and cosying up to one of them! Attempting to leave once she knows their secret isn’t going to happen, so she better get used to it! Problems get even worse when two visiting vampires come to the house for a meeting, both progeny of their same sire, who lives in a house where they believe humans are for food or to kill! She gets told not to open her mouth, but some of the comments being made about her, whilst she is within touching distance of these guests, are too much for Piper to put up with.

She may have put herself into an even more dangerous position, as an unclaimed human in the vampire world, she is considered a piece of property, no matter how much she may disagree with that! This was previously a novella in a boxset, but has definitely been fleshed out to three hundred pages of sexy vampires, a clumsy yet snarky maid who won’t put up with any guff from her bosses, and lots of fun interactions. She is teaching all of these vampires that human women are not playthings and she has an attitude to match her mouth, even if her brain doesn’t stop and filter it first, and no matter how her body might betray her reactions to all of them! A start to an obvious reverse harem story, but with some fun and games thrown into the story as certain characters clash. A modern woman and a house full of men from a different century and belief system is bound to bring about some conflict and a fun read. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Such a great story. Piper needed a job, but she doesn’t expect who she has to work for. Love this romance and looking forward to more in the series.

  24. Debz

When a young woman gets a job with an agency to clean the home of a wealth man she gets more than she bargained for! After accidentally breaking a priceless vase she finds herself “indebted “ to the owners (five gorgeous… Vampires) this is a good read with plenty of sarcasm and humour to keep you reading (this book does end on a cliffhanger) I’d recommend this book and look forward to reading more.
